I AM HAVING A GREAT DAY!

Kevin and I went to Roseburg on Monday. We had such a wonderful visit with his two daughters. The youngest is 15 and the oldest is 22. The youngest was just picked for a part in one of the school plays. She enjoys acting and filming and would love to one day be a film maker. The oldest wants to go abroad and attend her final two years of college in England. But, she just moved in with her boyfriend (who we got to meet also) and so who knows where her plans will go from here.

I was thrilled that Kevin and I did get the opportunity to stop in JoAnn Fabrics and browse all the fabulous sales they were having. At 50% off, I bought 10 yards of Wonder Under for future uses in applique. I never seem to have enough. LOL.

I have been wanting one of these thread holders for quite awhile, well again at 50% off, I just could not pass this up. I already hung it up on the wall above the sewing machine and stocked it completely with threads. It is so handy and looks awesome!

Being one who does not indulge, very often, in new tools for quilting. I was reluctant to buy this cutting mat. It was also 50% off, but I had to really think hard. The one I had was still in working order even with the super grooves in specific lines. Kevin finally gave me the final push of making it perfectly fine to buy this Self Healing Mat.

I had to try it out that evening when we got home. It works like a dream. It amazed me at the difference the pressure makes in your wrist movements, like walking on clouds in comparison. I will choose this type over the other type from now on. I recommend these items to everyone.

I received this postcard from Carol in Sweden today in the mail. I adore the shapes of the pumpkins. Thank you Carol.
I received this postcard from Marie in Florida. I find seashells fascinating and beautiful. Thanks Marie.

Plus, I received this postcard from Holly. She is doing a great job on free motion quilting. She also sent me this lovely fat quarter I won from one of her weekly drawings. It is so soft and calming. Thanks Holly.

By the time we got home from Roseburg, I was exhausted. Yesterday, I spent the day pretty much doing nothing but easing a massive headache. Tried ironing a few of my Dresden Plate blocks, but just could not deal with the headache. I gave up and watched some movie, went in took a nap. We went out for a late lunch and then came home, where I took another nap. Watched a movie until I went to sleep for the night.

Thankfully this morning, I am feeling full of life and sewing! So, I finished ironing on all the applique pieces and am now machine satin stitching them all onto the blocks. I still need to finish a binding on one quilt, but just did not feel like messing with that. LOL. Boy sometimes exuses are easy enough to come by! My unfinished projects are slowly, but surely, winding down to none! Hooray!

Have a great day! I am off to check out all the blogs and then back to the sewing machine.

  1. Hey Brenda,Sounds like a great fun family and shopping. Kevin sounds alot like Ray if I look at it and he thinks it would be usful too then he say you need to get it.Not sure how this week is going to go as I am in alot of pain so much more than las week.By the way did you bond the dresden plate to your fabric before putting it on the squares? Just wondering I have done it both ways but I like it bonded so it doesn't get puckered whenit is washed. Have a great day girlfriend. blessings and hugs, Marie

  3. Wow you found some great deals. I would love ten yards of wonder under. I need a spool rack too. Maybe I will request one for Christmas.

  4. Looks like we both made out like bandits at Joann's this week. I was going in for sewing machine needles and came out with bolts of fabric at 50% off.
Somehow I missed the Wonder Under.

  5. Great job on your shopping! It is always so much fun to get new things to help with sewing and/or quilting!! I'm sorry I missed entering your give-away, and congrats on over 100 blogs! I think I'm in the high 70's so I suppose I need to figure out what I'm going to do!

I'm heading to bed, so I'll have to catch up on other people's blogs tomorrow.

Hope you have another fun day sewing tomorrow!!
