I have been working on a Dresden Plate quilt off and on all summer.
This is the picture in the book.
Nothing has gone right it seems since I began.
First off the machine breaks down and is not fixed for several months.
Finally have it up and running and applique all the blocks. They looked really nice.
Yesterday, I began putting all the sections together. Proplem after problem; seams not matching up correctly and it will not press down nice and flat....I am not real happy with the outcome.
But, alright we still have the border to put all around and it should look fine. Waited until this morning to get started on that. I pull out the pieces and guess what?
They do not fit properlly. What the ****did I do wrong. After looking and not making any sound guesses, I folded it all up and placed it in the unused bedroom. But, it is driving me crazy, I want to finish it. I will have to get it out and see what solutions I can come up with.
Eventually I will get it all figured out in my brain and the layout and the pieces! But, am going to take the remainder of the day off from quilting.
Hey Brenda, YOur so right to tske a break-- I do the same thing alot. Out of the blue you will fingure it out.will check on you later. Blessings and hugs, Marie
ReplyDeleteBrenda, I've missed a lot, and looking over all the posts that I have missed I must say you should take a break...you've been one busy bee!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're feeling better now, last contact we had you weren't so good. Hugs to you! :)
Hi Brenda, Taking a break is good. You will figure it and or come up with a way for it to all come together. I can't wait to see it when you are finished!
ReplyDeleteBrenda.....you know what will happen.....you'll sleep on the problem, dream of the solution and voila.....you will be able to fix it. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful quilt. Some days are just not meant for quilting - taking a break should give you a new perspective on it when you return.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. This has happen to me. The only thing I can think is that you didn't use the same seam allowance when sewing for all the blocks. Good luck figuring it out. I am sure it will be lovely. I can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteI would be just itching to keep working on this quilt .... the pattern is gorgeous and quite different. Mistakes happen for a reason and the outcome will be just fine!
ReplyDeleteIt will be a beautiful quilt Brenda..take a break from it and when the time is right you will pick it up and have it finished in no time, but don't hide it away in a cupboard again where you can't see it..
ReplyDeletehappy stitching.
Hugs Julia
