PAPER PIECING PROJECT
Greeting to everyone! I have not posted in awhile, between Christmas and Kevin being laid off, I just have not had much computer time. I totally chased him away for awhile and said I needed time to post and play. He just laughed and told me to take my time.
We had a very nice Christmas. Spent many enjoyable hours with family and friends and of course consumed way to much food and goodies. Time to go back on the balanced diet and exercise once again on a daily basis. LOL.
I spent the majority of the day yesterday taking down Christmas decorations and cleaning the living room from top to bottom. I love decorating, but since Dawn is all grown up, the decorations go up later every year and come down sooner also. I then spent the evening sitting in my comfy chair watching movies and tearing off the paper from the blocks that I have finished.
This morning I trimmed all the seams to the 1/4 inch and double checked each seam to insure I had not missed any. Out of the 60 I only had to fix three small seams. It is always a good idea to check after removing the paper, you just never know if you loosened seams or missed sewing it by a fraction. From there I have been finishing piecing the remaining 20 blocks and will repeat the tearing away of paper tonight. Tomorrow I will actually begin sewing the 4 blocks into the 1 star block.
I finally finished basting all of my hexagon pieces and can now begin sewing them together (by hand). My father just shakes his head in astonishment that I am going to do this by hand. I showed him a few quilts that others have done by hand and he thinks they are great, but says there is no way he would ever have the patience for any project that could take years. I laughed at him and reminded him of his Dragster race car that he, my brother and uncle worked on from piece number one to the last race he ever entered. A good 20 year project. LOL.
I wish you all a great day!

This is going to be a beautiful and colorful quilt! I like paper piecing, too. I'm think I'm with your dad on the hand-piecing of the hexagon quilt--you have a lot of patience! Glad you had a good holiday--Happy New Year.
