After hearing so much about making totes on various blogs and forums, plus the possabilities of having to start furnishing our own bags at grocery stores; I decided to try my hand at making one. I pretty much did my own "design" so to say EXCEPT for the applique pattern which I got off the FAT CAT PATTERNS/BULLS EYE site by SINDY RODENMAYER in the Block of the Month section under Baltimore Blues June. I really enjoyed this pattern and have used a few of her other patterns. I really enjoy her site, she has a large variety and I enjoy just looking and dreaming of projects to do someday (hee-hee-hee).
I really enjoyed making this tote and will definetly make a few more. I think I will make them all reversable (just increases the strength and durability) and try one of her fish on the next one.
Although this is not the best picture it shows the reverse side of my tote.
If you would like to view a better image of the tote just click on the picture and it will enlarge and it shows a clearer picture.
Have a great day.
What a fancy tote - you'll certainly stand out when you go shopping! I think you're right to line them - the first one I made - using left-over Orange Crush blocks - is a little too flimsy for shopping so I'll use it for something less demanding.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tote and I love your version of the Baltimore block.

That's a beautiful first tote. Although I should warn you - making totes is addicting. Ask me how I know.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tote! You did a wonderful job for your first and the lining to boot. Wow! I like to thought of making something to carry shopping. The totes they sell you at the grocery store are way too small. You've given me an idea......which could be very dangerous.....LOL
ReplyDeleteVery nice!!!
