WORKING ON CRAZY BLOCKS

I am still at a stand still as to what fabrics to use for borders on the other quilt top (photo last blog). So I decided to work on dwindling down my bucket of scraps. I found this crazy block among my numerous patterns copied from the web (I do not know where this one came from).

These crazy blocks are a lot of fun to put together. I traced the pattern onto 20 sheets of copy paper and pulled out the scrap bucket and began sewing the pieces together. When a certain fabric does not actually fit the space, it is an easy remedy; you just add another scrap. So even though I am following the pattern, each block is slightly different and uses every sort of fabric. Lights, darks, small print, large print, bold and boring it all looks great.

As you can see, Chicca has made herself quite comfortable on a pile of blocks already made. She snuck up onto the ironing board while I was in the kitchen getting a refill of coffee. The little beast; she knows I do not like her to lie on the ironing board unless it is covered. But she looks so cozy, I just could not push her away. I think that these blocks, when assembled, will make a very nice backing for a quilt.
