SUNDAY/SUNDAY....

Kevin and his daughter Savannah are off doing a few errands in town.  Dodger, Colby and Tigger are taking their afternoon naps.  Tigger is visiting while Jimmy is off at a barbeque with his family.  So that leaves me....I have been doing sewing off and on all day.  I tried to get some pictures of my newest projects, but the lighting was off and the pictures kept coming up white.

One of the projects is a Trapunto/ free motion embroidery piece.  A special friend loves fish and her mother gave me a variety of fabrics with bright wonderful fish scenes.  I struggled with deciding what quilt block to do.  I just could not come up with a solution without having to cut all of the fish into sections.  So, I decided to go ahead and have my go at the Trapunto.  So far it is going smoothly and looking great.  I have a lot of stitching to do.....I have a vision of a sort of 3-D effect with the first layer being really puffy, the second dimension a tad bit less and the final layer only have a very low loft.  I am in no hurry, so who knows where this project will lead.

The above mentioned will be the backing fabric for the other project.  I have chosen a paper pieced pattern of the Drunkards Path.  It has a look of a Mariners Compass arch in it.  I have read that coffee filters work well for paper piecing projects and thought ok, lets give this a try.  It really works quite well....the paper tears away easily without loosing the stitch or leaving little flakes of paper.  After doing a couple samples, I decided to go for it.  Next step, is making 192 patterns of the paper pieced section.  Using the printer....noooo takes way to much ink and thinking on my part LOL.  Tracing each individual piece...not much fun in that.  So went to the sewing machine and am doing the punch trace method.

I am off to do some more work on one or the other projects.  I hope you have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend!
