I have really gotten away from writting on my blogs. Several reasons; lost interest for some reason, health issues, dealing with pain, and not doing a whole lot of quilting or sewing.
I have been to several doctors and specialists, the first specialist said I have Bursitis (spelling sorry) in my left hip and eventually it would go away. Well it has not and just continues to get worse. Then my lower back really began giving me pain. This specialist says that I have degenerative arthritis and there is nothing that can really be done for it, except for pain medications and muscle relaxers. He did recommend the steroid shot and was honest and said that with each person it is different. Some lasts for years, others months and some only a short time. I had the shot and it lasted for about 2 months. But not having the severe pain for the amount of time it was gone, makes it well worth having a second one and hoping it will last longer. Right now, I am trying to get it all set up.
I really believe that dealing with the constent pain is what has been the main contributor in loosing interest. Knowing exactly what I am dealing with and learning to handle it is a step in the right direction. I can no longer spend hours upon hours doing the whole quilting process. I have to do something for a short time, usually about a half hour is all I can take....then get up move around, lie down and relax...then when I feel up to it I can then go back and work again. It is very frustrating learning to manage my time limits.
But, I am getting excited about every aspect once again. Recently, I have been discovering Free Motion Machine Embroidery. I experimented quite awhile ago with it and then tried other things....we all know how that one can go. The photo above is my latest project. I really enjoyed it. I still have a lot to learn, but it is fun and relaxing. I have already started another project. Plus, I have a quilt in the works that I did some free Motion Machine Embroidery outlining fish and added some trapunto.
No promises, but I do hope to get back into blogging along with quilting. So if you are a follower of my blog and have not totally given up on me.....Thank You. I will try and post more often.
